Warehouse mezzanines

A mezzanine adds a second floor inside your building for storage, picking or offices. Freestanding steel mezzanines suit open space; rack-supported mezzanines use the racking itself to hold up the walkway, ideal for multi-level pick modules.

Permits and engineering

In Ontario a mezzanine usually needs engineered drawings and a building permit from your municipality, and it will need a PSR where it applies. We manage the drawings, permit package and inspection with you.

Supplied, installed and certified

Whatever system you choose, RackGuy handles it end to end: components from our used stock where it makes sense, installation by our own crews, and a PSR and load signage so it's ready for inspection. How certification works.

Common questions

Do I need a building permit for a mezzanine in Ontario?

In most cases, yes. Mezzanines are structures under the Ontario Building Code and typically need stamped drawings and a municipal permit.

What's a rack-supported mezzanine?

A platform where the pallet or shelf racking carries the walkway load, creating multi-level pick aisles without a separate steel structure.

How long does a mezzanine take?

Design and permitting often take longer than installation. Plan on several weeks to a few months depending on your municipality.
