Cantilever racking

Cantilever rack has no front columns. Arms reach out from a central column, so long or awkward loads like lumber, pipe, bar stock and sheet goods slide in from the side without a post in the way.

Arms, bases and loads

Capacity is set per arm and per column. Load length decides column spacing: a load should overhang the outer arms by no more than about half the column spacing so it doesn't sag or tip.

Indoors or outside

Galvanized cantilever handles outdoor yards and lumber sheds. We can also add roof and side cladding brackets for covered storage.

Supplied, installed and certified

Whatever system you choose, RackGuy handles it end to end: components from our used stock where it makes sense, installation by our own crews, and a PSR and load signage so it's ready for inspection. How certification works.

Common questions

What is cantilever racking used for?

Long, bulky or awkward items: lumber, pipe, tube, steel bar, sheet goods, furniture and coiled material.

How far apart should cantilever columns be?

Spacing depends on load length and stiffness. Long loads need at least enough columns to prevent sag. We size it during design.

Can cantilever racking go outside?

Yes. Galvanized cantilever is common in lumber yards and outdoor storage.
