Drive-in and drive-through racking

Drive-in rack removes the aisles between bays. Forklifts drive right into the rack and set pallets on rails, stacking lanes several pallets deep. You trade pallet access for a big jump in storage per square foot.

Drive-in vs drive-through

Drive-in rack has an entry on one side only, so the last pallet in is the first one out (LIFO). Drive-through rack is open at both ends: load from one side, pick from the other, first in first out (FIFO).

Built tough on purpose

Forklifts work inside the structure, so drive-in rack is almost always structural steel with guide rails at the floor. Correct rail height, anchoring and load signage are critical, and this is a system we always certify.

Supplied, installed and certified

Whatever system you choose, RackGuy handles it end to end: components from our used stock where it makes sense, installation by our own crews, and a PSR and load signage so it's ready for inspection. How certification works.

Common questions

How deep can drive-in racking be?

Lanes of 4 to 10 pallets are common. Deeper lanes add density but slow access and increase the chance of damage.

Is drive-in racking FIFO?

Drive-in is last in, first out. If you need first in, first out, use drive-through racking or pallet flow racking.

What forklifts work with drive-in racking?

Most counterbalance and reach trucks can work drive-in rack if the truck fits the lane width and lift height. Operators need training for working inside the structure.
